Soumik Datta

British Indian musician Soumik Datta leads a fiery group of improvisers in this hybrid, genre-breaking performance: ‘Fretless Nomad’. Chartering the musical history of the 19-stringed fretless lute known as the sarod, this nomadic journey spans ancient Afghanistan, colonial India and present day Britain. Special guests include the chart topping singer-songwriter Fiona Beva. The show combines elements of classical Indian, soul and punk music and culminates with a special performance of Soumik’s own creation, the electric sarod.
