For the first time The Prince’s Foundation School of Traditional Arts, are offering the opportunity to learn traditional Chinese lacquer painting techniques. Tiantian Guo, an independent artist who teaches lacquer art at Hubei Institute of Art in China, will come from China to teach two different decorative techniques: Biantu and Moliu.
Biantu technique uses multiple layers of coloured lacquer, and gold and silver foil. You will learn all the stages of this craft to create your own design by polishing to reveal the final image.
Using the Moliu technique, you will learn to apply a diluted, coloured lacquer onto a black polished ground to create a decorative “ink-flow” effect.
This course is part of the Bagri Foundation Open Programme at The Prince’s Foundation School of Traditional Arts, which aims to develop Asian arts courses at The School.
