Dr Doria Tichit

Follow in the Footsteps of the Buddha is the first tour of the Bagri Foundation Museum Galley Tour series for the second half of 2015. The Series, led by Dr Doria Tichit, aims to introduce audiences to the artistic heritage of India. The tours are free and open to all.

The first tour at the British Museum explores the life of the Historical Buddha, Siddhartha Gautama and his quest and legacy through the prism of art. The lecture discusses the emergence of Buddhism in the middle of the first millennium BCE and the tenets of doctrine. Early South Asian sculptures, from the first to sixth centuries CE, are at the heart of the tour; style and iconography are commented on.
