Event details.

This lecture offers a fascinating insight into the work of key contemporary art jewellers who draw inspiration from the arts and practices of Asia, particularly India, Japan and China. Through their artistry and craftsmanship, these jewellers create original works in both precious and non-precious materials, which range from beautiful reinterpretations of the traditional, to exquisite experimental pieces. Their creations challenge our understanding of what fine jewellery is. Miranda Rhys Williams will examine the increasing role of design in contemporary jewellery, investigating whether jewellery as art will ever replace our love affair with precious rocks.

Admission: £10 including booking fee.

This event is part of Asian Art in London 2016.
