The Deccan Heritage Foundation is a charitable organisation registered in the UK and in India. The goals of the foundation are to preserve, restore and promote the heritage of the Deccan region of India, and in particular its plethora of monuments, through conservation projects, cultural promotion, and educational programmes.
The Deccan Heritage Foundation (DHF) has a particular interest in education and music as the vehicles for keeping monuments and heritage alive. The Bagri Foundation is delighted to support the project Roots of Fire, part of DHF’s education programme in the Deccan. Roots of Fire aims to inspire and celebrate with young, aspiring instrumentalists the musical dialogue between the East and the West which has notably blossomed in the Deccan over centuries. In January 2017 this initiative culminated in concerts with Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Amaan Ali Bangash, Ayaan Ali Bangash, David Murphy, Sinfonia Verdi in Goa and in Mumbai.
A major part of the DHF’s mission is bringing the Deccan’s rich heritage to a new generation of Indians as well as foreign visitors.
